Lucy is also fabulous and she looked stunning in a fabulous sequin dress. It was great to get the chance to chat to her and talk about the book. She was very brave and made an impressive speech to us all about what the book means to her and what a labour of love it was. You can tell her heart and soul has been poured into this book and in her opinion, it is the best book yet.
She had a wonderful surprise for us all as well. The launch was held in the basement roomk of a music shop in soho and after Lucy had spoken about the book she introduced her opera singers for the evening because the book is all about a woman who is an aspiring opera singer. We were entertained by a female singer to begin with and then a male opera singer joined her and they performed the most stunning duet which culminated in them leaving hand in had up the stairs, through the audience and everyone completely moved to tears. It was such an original idea for a launch and everyone was just so bowled over by how wonderful the evening was (there was also champagne and crudités-even better!)
There were a host of other bloggers and authors there and so it was great to chat to all of them too, it's always fab to be around other people who love books as much as you do and can appreciate a good gush about what you've been reading lately. It was just a lovely evening and so a big thank you to Lucy and her team at penguin for inviting me and putting on such a fabulous evening!
Wow, sounds like a great party! Very original :)
