Review: Ottercombe Bay Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4 by Bella Osborne

To celebrate the release of Ottercombe Bay Part 3 by Bella Osborne today I am going to share mini reviews of parts 1, 2, and 3 with you. Obviously there may be some spoilers for parts 1 and 2 if you read the synopsis or review for part 3 without having read part 1, so just beware! Part 4 of Oteercombe Bay comes out in the UK on May 10th.

Daisy Wickens has returned to Ottercombe Bay, the picturesque Devon town where her mother died when she was a girl. She plans to leave as soon as her great uncle’s funeral is over, but Great Uncle Reg had other ideas. He’s left Daisy a significant inheritance – an old building in a state of disrepair, which could offer exciting possibilities, but to get it she must stay in Ottercombe Bay for twelve whole months.

With the help of a cast of quirky locals, a few gin cocktails and a black pug with plenty of attitude, Daisy might just turn this into something special. But can she ever hope to be happy among the ghosts of her past?

Review: This was a great introduction to the series. We get to know mean character Daisy really well and meet most of the supporting characters in this first part. We also get our first glimpses of Ottercombe Bay. Daisy is a great main character for this series because she really doesn't want to be tied down, she doesn't want to stay in once place for too long, but it looks as if her travels have come to an end. We, as readers, can definitely sympathise with her. There are a host of characters who enter Daisy's life very suddenly and I can already spot a possible love interest as well as a couple of comic side kicks that seems like they're going to be a lot of fun. In terms of twists and turns, a couple of skeletons are unearthed but on this whole, this first instalment in the series is pretty uneventful until a massive cliffhanger right at the end!

Review: Well part two of this series see things really starting to hot up! Now that we've got to know everyone, its time for the action to really kick in. There is a lot happening in this second instalment, including being given more information about a few of those skeletons that were unearthed in part one-yey! We obviously get to know a little more about the characters, and specifically their parents. It is lovely to see Daisy's relationship with the other characters develop, especially her relationship with pug Bugsy Malone, he provides some real comedy in this novel. Not only to we get to know the characters a little more, but we also get to know Ottercombe Bay a little more. I loved the description of the small town, is dynamics and of course that wonderful coast line. The thing that I liked most about this part was the fabulous cliffhanger at the end, making me desperately hurry to get on and read part 3!

Review: Well part 1 of this series introduced us to skeletons being unearthed in a lot of closets and part 3 lets all of those skeletons out for all to see. This part really delves deeper into who Daisy is and what she is about and we also get to find out a lot more about Max in this particular instalment. And when we delve deeper into these characters' pasts, we really do find a lot more than we bargained for. There is also some romance in this instalment, which I loved. I won't give any spoilers away but I certainly didn't see all of it coming! If you were waiting for more gin then there is a lot more gin in this episode, as well as some hot chocolate. Thankfully there is also a lot more Pug in this part as well, because he is just such a great character. True to form, this episode ends on a cliffhanger and I have absolutely no clue how this series is going to end-I can't wait for part 4!

Review: Well Bella Osborne certainly saved all the drama up for this part of the story. This suddenly spilled over into the crime genre with a little bit of mystery thrown in for good measure as it reached its crescendo! There are police and sabotage, not to mention drugs and other crimes in this finally installment. I'm sure it will make a thrilling ending when it is released as one book but was quite a dramatic change of direction when you read this as book four of four! It did make for a page turner though and you can rest assured that a lot of loose ends are tied up in this installment.

There is a lot of love in this chapter too and i defy you not to aww out loud at some of the more romantic scenes. The sense of family is also strong in this installment, including the lovely Bugsy! This series has been a really interesting read, I was worried there would be too much Gin but there is a lot of tea and hot chocolate to balance it out as well. The costal descriptions are great and the characters are easy to get along with. This has been an enjoyable read!
